Why do Christians want to serve God?
Every Christian is aware that eternal life is a gift from God that no human being can earn through their own efforts. On the contrary, the Bible makes it unmistakably clear that all people must die because the first humans—Adam and Eve—sinned against God. As a result, all people became sinners, as every human being carries the sinful tendencies of their ancestors within them. Therefore, God sent us His Son, Jesus, so that through faith in Him we might be redeemed from our guilt and thus from death. This fact should demonstrate to us God's immeasurable love and grace.
Knowing that God loves us and experiencing His love and goodness every day gives Christians peace, strength, and true fulfillment. Life after death is the continuation of this eternal fellowship with God in a new world without suffering and death. Therefore, it is a joy for every Christian to share their hope and experiences with God with other people, so that they too can get to know God and receive eternal life. If we open our hearts to God and accept His Word, we can experience that God exists and that the Bible is true. We can experience how meaningful and peace-giving life with God is, and that there is nothing more fulfilling in this world than a life in reconciled fellowship with our Creator and Father. At the same time, we can selflessly give the love that God has given us to others.
You (God) make known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.
Fear the Lord, you His holy people, for those who fear Him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
Whom have I in heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides You.
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
