How can I believe in a God I don't see?

Many people cite the fact that they cannot see God as the reason why they do not be-lieve. The assumption that God must have a visually perceptible form is human. In truth, however, the Creator of all things is grea-ter than anything that exists or that any human being could ever imagine. The Bible testifies that God is invisible and has no phy-sical form. In some places in the Bible we read how God meets people as light or in the form of a cloud. In other places, God tempo-rarily took on the appearance of a human or an angel. In some prophetic writings in the Bible, God is described as a person with white hair sitting on a throne. In these examples, God shows himself in visible form in order to interact with his creatures.

Most often, God speaks to believers through his Spirit without them being able to see God. In the Old Testament it was the prophets to whom God spoke in order to convey mes-sages to other people. From time to time God also caused supernatural signs and mira-cles to authenticate his messengers. But des-pite the visible appearances, many were not willing to listen to God and follow his ins-tructions. It was similar with Jesus, the Son of God. When Jesus was on earth, people saw and heard him. They ate and drank with Je-sus; they spoke to him and could touch him. They experienced the unique signs and won-ders that Jesus performed among them in the power of God. The leaders of the people knew that Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies of the Holy Scriptures that were supposed to prove that he was God's announced Savior. Nevertheless, many did not believe his mes-sage or turned away from him.

The real reason people reject God is because they are unwilling to turn from their sins and accept God's commandments as the standard for their lives. Whether they can see God or not usually has nothing to do with it. Above all, it is man's pride that blinds his eyes, hardens his heart and prevents him from recognizing God's love. Faith requires a humble attitude of heart and the insight that God is above us and that it is not our will but His will that should determine our lives.

Those who do not want to believe in God will not let anything convince them of God. Instead, they will always find reasons and excuses for their disbelief. When they stand before God's throne on the Day of Judgment, they will no longer be able to deny God's existence, even if it will be too late to repent...

The Bible says that God is known to every man by his works; i.e. in what God created like nature, the universe or us humans. Any-one who thinks about it impartially and considers the overwhelming beauty and diversity as well as the perfect order and fine-tuning in God's creation should realize that only an all-powerful and benevolent Creator can be considered as an explana-tion. In this respect, there is no excuse for us humans not to believe in God.

Even if God is not visible, every person has the opportunity to convince themselves of God's existence. All that is necessary is the willingness to sincerely ask about God. If we seek God with all our hearts, we can get to know Him and experience who God really is and how much God loves us humans. After all, God sent us his Son Jesus so that through faith in him we could receive for-giveness of sins and eternal life. Anyone who has recognized God's immeasurable goodness and mercy cannot help but love and worship God. And anyone who opens their heart to God and follows His Word will recognize God's presence and love in all areas of their life. In this way we can be as close to God as if we were seeing Him. This is how faith becomes alive and the existence of God becomes a firm and undeniable cer-tainty.
